Is this legal?
Yes, this is legal. Part of the money that you pay for the games is passed on to the games’ publishers. All of the games we sell are sold with the publishers’ permission.
Do you ever see or store my card info?
No, never. Only our payment services see your card information. All payments are processed either through Worldpay or Paypal. All pages where you enter your personal or credit card information are 128-bit SSL secured.
How many times can I download my game?
You can download your game an unlimited number of times. However, if we see many downloads in one day from multiple IP addresses, downloads will be blocked and keys will be deactivated until we are contacted by the purchaser of the game.
If I don’t want to download the game, will you send me the boxed version?
We don’t send boxed versions of games. These products are available for download only, but once you’ve downloaded a game you can burn it to a DVD for future installations.
How does your Downloader work?
Our Downloader is a small .net application that ONLY downloads the games. We’ve created it to download games faster than your web browser and provide links for installation once the download is complete. Please note that it currently does not work on Mac.
What if I don’t want to use your Downloader?
No problem. After you buy a game, you will be able to see the direct download links. If you want to download using Internet Explorer, Firefox, or your own download manager, you are free to do so.
Can I save the downloaded files on a DVD-R for later use?
Of course, but don’t forget that you can also download your game again at no cost.
Can I download the game on one PC and install it on another?
Yes, just move all the downloaded files to the destination computer and install the game. Please be aware that you will need to activate the game once installed.
Can I install a game on a PC that doesn’t have an Internet connection?
Yes, for most games, but you will need access to the Internet on another PC to ‘Manually Activate’ each game. Please be aware, however, that activation over the Internet is faster (and sometimes necessary) to launch a game after installation.
Do I need an Internet connection to play the games?
No, although you may need an Internet connection to activate your game after installation, as well as to download patches and access online multiplayer features.
Can I install my game on multiple PCs?
Yes, though because of the DRM (Digital Rights Management) applied to the game you only have a fixed amount of initial activations that are set by the game’s publisher. If you need more, contact our support team and they can increase the number of initial activations (within reason).
What about patches, do I need to install special patches on the games I download?
Typically, no. Most of our games will come patched up to latest version. If the game you’ve downloaded is not fully up-to-date, patches that you can find on the Internet can normally be applied to our games (patches will be marked boxed or digital). If you are unsure, or if you have any problems patching a game you bought from us, please contact our customer support team.
Do you use DRM technology like SecuROM?
Yes, some games on this site have DRM (Digital Rights Management) software like SecuROM included as an anti-piracy measure. This is done at the request of the game’s publisher. If a game has DRM then it will have a limited number of initial activations. You can request more activations from our customer support team if you need them. Some games on this site are sold DRM-free. If a game is DRM-free, this will be noted on the game’s description page.
How many activations do I get?
On most games you get 5 initial activations. The number of activations will also be reset periodically to allow more uses. If you ever run out, then you can request more by contacting our support team. Our principle is “If you paid for the game, you should always be able to activate it for your own use”.
If I uninstall the game and reinstall it later, will that use an activation?
No, only installations on different PCs will use an activation. You can uninstall and reinstall on the same PC as many times as you want.
Would upgrading my PC use up an activation?
No. Only changing many components in your PC at the same time (such as the processor, motherboard and graphics card) would cause your PC to be recognized as a different system, and therefore require another activation.
What happens if I use all of my activations and I still want to play my game?
Not a problem, just send a mail to our support team with your order number, and say that you ran out. They will check when you used your last activations (to root out fraudulent use), and send you more. Our principle is 'If you bought a game, then you should always be able to activate it for your own use'.
When is your customer support available?
7 days a week. Please note that we will be able to assist you more quickly if you explain your problem clearly, include the order number of your purchase, and provide as much information as possible.
What happens if I’ve lost my order email? Will I be able to get my game again?
Yes. Simply log into the site from which you’ve purchased your game and you’ll find the download links and activation codes on your account page. You can also resend your purchase mail from the account page if you want.
What if I can’t access my account?
You can use the forgotten password tool on the login page to reset your password. You can also contact our support team to track down your account info, send you your login, or reset your password.
When I ‘gift’ a game to a friend, does the gift email go out immediately?
Only if you want it to. This is the default option available on the checkout page, but you can also delay the delivery until a specified date.
What if I have a problem with the game itself?
If you have a problem installing or activating the game then you should first check our Support section, as it contains plenty of information and quick fixes for most issues. If this doesn’t help, you can contact our support team that is available 7 days a week via a form in the support section. If the problem is in the game itself (such as a crash or a graphical issue) then you will have to contact the publisher’s customer support directly. A list of publisher support addresses is available in our Support section.
